For those with a detailed interest in South Texas Archaeology, this is the “lost” manuscript of the Lost Peacock site (41ZV263). All copies were thought to have disappeared, but Mack Pryor, the landowner of the site held on to the manuscript originally sent to him and provided his copy to CAR. It is now listed as Archaeological Investigations in Zavala and Dimmit Counties, Texas: The Internorth Pipeline Project by Eric C. Gibson, Archaeological Survey Report, No. 110 in CAR's publications. While CAR is currently updating all of their publications for improved accessibility, the document is no longer "lost" and will be made available as soon as possible. Anyone who needs an immediate copy of this document, may contact CAR@utsa.edu.
Dr. Tom Hester wrote an article in 2000 in La Tierra, the publication of the Southern Texas Archaeological Association (STAA) about the site. The article, entitled "Notes on South Texas Archaeology 2000-2 An Artifact Sequence from 41ZV263, Zavala County, Texas: The Lost Manuscript from the Lost Peacock Site" and found in Volume 27-2, discusses the disappearance and search for a copy of the manuscript, as well as a discussion of the possible significance of the site to Texas archaeology.
