Identification definitions:

 

Z or S twist – Fibers twisted in the direction of the slanted central portion of the letter S (\), S-twist, or the letter Z (/), Z-twist

Cordage – Finely woven fibers, twisted to form a cord (made up of 2 twisted fibers)

Twisted fibers – Fibers that have been twisted in process of forming cordage (but not completed)

Selvage – An edge produced on a woven object during manufacture that prevents it from unravelling

Checkerpad – An over-one-under-one pattern; also called simple checkerweave
