In May 2013, CAR's Legacy Outreach Program teamed up with UTSA's P20 Iniative and Gear Up Program to teach students about archaeological methods and techniques. Legacy staff worked with classes from local middle schools for a multi-meeting program that involved students creating and burying their own cultures. Later, Legacy archaeologists met with students and teachers to excavate and interpret the cultures that the students had created. The experience was both rewarding and educational, as students applied critical thinking and interpretion skills for the identification of cultural material.

Students were judged on their excavation techniques, teamwork, and interpretions, and we are proud of our winners from Whitter Academy! Congratulations!
