The UTSA School of Music is home to more than 20 outstanding instrumental and choral ensembles. These ensembles perform over 100 concerts and events hosted annually in the UTSA Recital Hall and across the wider community.

Hope, Resistance, and Torture: The Role of Music during the HolocaustAmerican flutist and sociomusicologist Christine Beard will examine the role music played during the Holocaust. This poignant and informative lecture-recital explores how music served as a form of resistance and allowed prisoners to temporarily “escape” their inhumane circumstances, how the Nazis used music to inflict mental and emotional torture, and what music was banned by the SS Kultur Kamer.
