Mariachi Los Paisanos
Mariachi Los Paisanos is quickly becoming one of UTSA's most beloved and fastest-growing student ensembles! The group traces its ties to the heart of San Antonio's Hispanic cultural identity through mariachi music with its traditional instrumentation, songs, and trajes. The mariachi ensemble frequently performs in the San Antonio metro area as well as in UTSA Recital Hall and during commencement ceremonies. Instrumentation in this ensemble typically features guitar, violin, trumpet, guitarron, bajo sexto, and vihuela. The ensemble is under the direction of Michael Acevedo and is open to students from all majors.
Exclusive scholarships are available to mariachi students through auditions. Ensemble participation is open to both music and non-music majors. For more information, email Michael Acevedo.
