UTSA's Department of Music is home to several outstanding ensembles, including our UTSA Bands, with the 'Spirit of San Antonio' Marching Band at the helm. Additional bands and auxiliary ensembles include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, SOSA Percussion, and more.
Our UTSA Orchestra, led by award-winning conductor & composer John Zarco, is one of our department's premiere ensembles, consistently playing to sold-out audiences.
Under the direction of conductor & composer Dr. Yoojin Muhn, our choirs perform multiple concerts on our main campus each year, as well as concert events around San Antonio and throughout Texas.
Students may also perform in UTSA Lyric Theatre productions, with our Jazz Ensembles & Combos, and in any number of our Chamber Ensembles including the stellar Percussion Ensemble, our Flute Ensemble, and our beloved Mariachi Los Paisanos.
Participation in any ensemble is by audition and is open to all UTSA students, majors, and non-majors. Visit the specific ensemble pages for more information on auditions.
