Internships can play a vital part in the college learning experience because they allow students to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while developing practical skills. Through hands-on experience, students gain professional communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Internships also can clarify their career goals and help students to see themselves as emerging professionals within a field. Internships also provide valuable networking opportunities, strengthen résumés, and improve prospects for employment or graduate study.
Students who would like to purse an Internship in Medical Humanities need to find an internship partner. COLFA has some great tips on how to do this. See the I Want and Internship tab on their Internship Process Page
Students who have found an internship partner or currently work in the medical filed can contact the MHU Internship coordinator at Leo.Bannister@utsa.edu to discuss the possibility of using their current employment as internship credit.
