The Citymester Program – With a Medical Focus is a sister program to the Citymester program created by the Honors College. Like the Honors College UTSA Citymester program, this program is designed to foster student engagement and learning through partnerships with community organizations. Citymester – With a Medical Focus uses the same framework as the Honors College program but is tailored to provide internships, service-learning projects, and networking opportunities with community partners that have a medical component. The Honors College Citymester program operates in the summer, while Citymester – With a Medical Focus operates in the spring and fall.
Students who are not MHU majors but are interested in Citymester should apply through the Honors College program, as you do not need to be a member of the Honors College to participate.
Citymester – With a Medical Focus allows students to earn 9 credit hours through a unique combination of service learning, an internship, and completion of the MHU Seminar/Capstone course requirement.
Citymester – With a Medical Focus consists of three components:
Students must enroll in and complete all three courses simultaneously, and all three courses may count toward the MHU degree. The program is designed to enhance your educational experience, strengthen your résumé, build meaningful professional connections, and improve the quality of your application letters and post-graduate prospects. Students will gain exposure to diverse areas of medicine beyond hospital settings while giving back to the community.
Please note that enrollment is limited. Priority will be given to seniors and juniors, and a minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
If you would like to participate in the Citymester – With a Medical Focus program, please complete the UTSA Citymester – With a Medical Focus application form at least one month prior to the semester for which you are applying.
