Become Bold Leaders as The Teagle Foundation and UTSA Help Pave Your Pathway to College

Knowledge for Freedom: Migration, Democracy, & the American Experiment is a UTSA summer program that offers ambitious high school rising seniors the opportunity to experience university life through an engaging seminar and curriculum designed to connect them with the primary texts and advanced ideas which inform active civic leaders.

For 5 weeks from June to July, students will live on-campus in UTSA dorms and take a seminar course on seminal texts that inform the theory and practice of democracy. They will study the “big ideas" which comprise the American democratic experiment. Each class will be guided by award-winning UTSA professors and exceptional student mentors, and discussions will center around how the pivotal texts that we read help us to understand the intersecting relationships of migration, democracy, and freedom.

This is more than just a seminar, though. Students will receive tutelage on college-level academic skills, the college admissions and financial aid processes, university life, choosing a major, applying for funding opportunities like scholarships, and many other topics that can confuse students during the college application process.

Upon graduation from the seminar, students will continue to work with UTSA Knowledge for Freedom as they develop and execute their class civic engagement project. Students will work closely with college mentors throughout their senior year as they apply for the programs and schools they are reaching for.

There is no cost for this program, so take this opportunity of a lifetime!
