The University of Texas at San Antonio Department of Art and Art History announces the XXI Biennial Art Faculty Exhibition. The collection of artworks showcases the most recent work of our new, well-established, and emeritus faculty, all of whom have exemplary exhibition records. This exhibition highlights the diversity of media within our faculty, from traditional techniques to new and interdisciplinary methods. There are many themes explored within the individual artworks, spanning many conceptual ideas that utilize a variety of methods, materials, and subject matter that create critical reflections regarding contemporary society and culture.

Libby Rowe, founding director of the UTSA School of Art, exclaims “As we celebrate our 1-year anniversary of the School of Art, we’re opening the semester strong by celebrating a talented and diverse faculty. This exhibition showcases the vast variety of conceptual thinking within our faculty, and how they push boundaries using different media to tackle bigger cultural and societal conversations.” She continues to add that the XXI Biennial Faculty Exhibition “is not only a celebration of our spectacular studio art faculty, it also provides an important venue for our majors and extended art community to marvel at the research created by our faculty.”
