#Eco-JEDI seeks to bolster the recruitment, graduation, and career readiness in food and agriculture sciences (FAS) by diminishing the barriers and prioritizing the inclusion of historically marginalized, underserved populations (UP) through a city-wide collaboration of three HSIs. #Eco-JEDI increases science knowledge, skills, and literacy by building UP engagement through experiential learning, mentoring, and science communication. Science curricula are strengthened using principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) and a communication-enriched curriculum. This collaboration prepares UP students for FAS employment through: field-based experiences; exposure to natural resources during nature immersion and experiential learning; and culturally and regionally relevant communication practices, including counter-storytelling.
