All students in the Master of Music program at UTSA are required to complete a comprehensive examination. Depending on the emphasis, students also complete one or more major research projects, either a recital project, a pedagogy project, or a thesis. The following timeline is crucial for the student’s satisfactory completion of these degree requirements. Failure to meet any of these deadlines will result in the cancellation of the comprehensive examination and, where relevant, the recital. Both will be rescheduled for the following semester.
All students, regardless of emphasis, must complete the Intent to Take the Comprehensive Examination Form no later than the following dates:

The Summer semester has some awkward timings of deadlines because it is shorter than the long semesters. Practical adjustments will be made on an individual basis.
