UTSA's Center for Public Opinion Research is accepting questions from researchers and organizations for its Bexar County survey.

Do you have a burning question or want to gauge community support for a project or idea?

The University of Texas at San Antonio is offering to help -- for a fee to cover costs. The 2-year-old UTSA Center for Public Opinion Research is inviting researchers and organizations to add questions to its new Bexar County Omnibus Survey, based on feedback from up to 3,000 local adult residents.

Bryan Gervais, center director, said it's the first time the research team has engaged the public. Purchased space on the survey is $500 per question, with a discounted rate of $250 for UTSA researchers. One "free question spot" will be given to a UTSA graduate student, based on its "quality and importance." The center has created an online form to submit questions to be posed in English and Spanish.

The deadline to submit questions is July 18, though the center may stop accepting submissions based on responses. Payment for service will be due July 31.

A previous pilot survey in November with a focus on six proposed city charter amendments used a panel of 1,571 voters, with 829 completing the study. It measured awareness and understanding of the propositions, and concluded the center's polling was accurate in estimating the margin of victory for each of the ballot items, which all passed. Crime, homelessness and affordable housing are the most pressing concerns on the minds of Bexar County voters, according to the survey.
