Lida Sarafrazarpatapeh, Ph.D., a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Medical Humanities program, has been selected as a 2025 Philosophy in Media Fellow by the Marc Sanders Foundation. This competitive initiative, supported by grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and Princeton University, is dedicated to increasing the visibility of philosophy in public media. Through this fellowship, Sarafrazarpatapeh will receive workshop training, connections to media professionals, and support to develop public-facing projects that bring philosophical thinking to broader audiences.

Sarafrazarpatapeh's academic work centers on making philosophy and medical humanities accessible beyond traditional academic settings. Since Spring 2024, she has taught a course titled “Seminar in Medicine in the Media,” where students critically examine how medical knowledge is represented across podcasts, comics, and social media platforms. Her teaching emphasizes active engagement with contemporary media forms, encouraging students to think critically about how information is communicated and understood by the public.

Through the Philosophy in Media Fellowship, Sarafrazarpatapeh plans to collaborate with her students to create a podcast series that highlights student-led narratives alongside expert commentary. The project will aim to engage the public in thoughtful discussions about topics in the medical humanities, creating new pathways for dialogue between academic experts and the wider community.
