Biography

Jennifer is an undergraduate pursuing her BA in Anthropology with the goal of going on to accomplish a Ph.D. In addition to her studies, she gains field knowledge in her professional employment as a Community Health Worker for SA Metro Health Departments award-winning Healthy Neighborhoods Program. In this position, she collaborates with community members, leaders, and organizations to develop and maintain project-based programming that supports shared goals of improving the areas overall quality of life.

 

Jennifer is passionate about supporting equitable changes that are rooted to uplift the voices of Black Indigenous People of Color toward the betterment of their health, sociocultural environment, and economic prosperity. Her research interest includes Reducing Racial Inequities of Health, Fighting Systemic Racism, Civil Rights History/ Mexican American History/ Indigenous History of America’s, Participatory Action Research, Food Sovereignty, Agroecology Social Movements, Herbal, Shamanic, and Holistic Medicine.

Research Interests

Traditional/holistic/ethnic medicine, ethnobotany, alchemy, magic, yoga, urban forestry/foraging, health equity, food sovereignty, transitional justice, reparatory justice, civil & human rights, bottom-up processing, qualitative data, and participatory action research.
