Bio
I am an ethnographer and theorist trained in a blend of psychological, medical, and linguistic anthropological approaches to the study of subjectivity and interaction; all of my work draws heavily upon and contributes to the field of phenomenology. I received both my MA (2013) and PhD (2020) in anthropology from UCLA. Between then and now I have been a lecturer in anthropology at UCLA and, a postdoc and lecturer in bioethics at the University of Virginia, and a postdoc at the Center for Subjectivity Research at the University of Copenhagen. I currently hold the rank of assistant professor at UTSA, teaching in the medical humanities program within the Interdisciplinary School for Engagement.
My research interests include experiences of empathy and communicative interaction, the role narrative and gossip in phenomenology of group membership, and the intersubjectivity of anticipation and imagination in architectural design.
