Dr. Rami El-Farrah is a concert saxophonist best known for his work as a soloist and member of the Zenith Quintet, Bel Cuore Quartet, and the Austin Saxophone Ensemble. As an award-winning soloist and chamber musician, Dr. El-Farrah has performed across the United States and throughout Europe. Dr. El-Farrah has been featured on several musical albums, as well as new albums forthcoming with Bel Cuore Quartet and Austin Saxophone Ensemble. In addition to concertizing Dr. El-Farrah teaches saxophone at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where he also leads the university’s saxophone ensemble.
Born in Tripoli, Libya Dr. El-Farrah’s emigration to Southern France and then to the U.S. shaped his worldview and work ethic with music. From the moment he started saxophone in his hometown of San Diego, California, Rami knew it was his passion. From there he earned degrees from California State University, Fullerton, and The University of Texas at Austin.
Currently, Dr. El-Farrah performs with groups like the Zenith Quintet, Bel Cuore Quartet, San Antonio Symphony, and Austin Symphony as well as teaching privately in Austin and as a saxophone instructor at The University of Texas at San Antonio. As an arranger, Dr. El-Farrah is constantly creating new works for his ensembles and for others across the US, many of which have recorded his music.
