Join us on April 15 at 7:30 PM at the Recital Hall of the School of Music at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) for a classical guitar recital by Fernando Vilchis Garcia. The program will feature works by J. S. Bach, Napoléon Coste, Francisco Tárrega, Dionisio Aguado, and Manuel Ponce, offering a rich exploration of the classical guitar repertoire from the Baroque to the Romantic and early modern periods.

Fernando Vilchis Garcia (b. May 1, 2000) is a Mexican classical guitarist. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), graduating with honors in 2023. He has performed extensively in Mexico and abroad, with appearances at major venues such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, as well as in France, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Vilchis has received the State Youth Award (2021) from the Government of the State of Mexico, and the Creadores Escénicos grant (2023) from FONCA–SACPC for his project From Music to Folly: The Folia in the 20th and 21st Centuries. He has also won top prizes in national and international competitions.

This recital presents an engaging musical journey through some of the most significant composers for the guitar, showcasing both technical mastery and expressive depth.
