COLFA Scholarships Eligibility and Requirements

The Alameda/UTSA Endowed Museum Internship

  • Deadline: March 14, 2021

    This internship award shall be provided to a full-time or part-time GRADUATE student enrolled in a graduate program in Anthropology, Art History or History.

    Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used each year to fund an internship at the:

    •  Smithsonian Institute, Washington, D.C.

    •  UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures

    •  Kennedy Center

    •  or other cultural institutions as deemed appropriate by the Dean of College of Liberal and Fine Arts

    The internship award shall be provided to a full-time or part-time graduate student enrolled in a graduate program in Anthropology, Art History or History.

    Preference will be given to students who have completed at least 20 credit hours toward their master's degree.  In consultation with the graduate advisers of record, applicants are responsible for making internship arrangements.

    Amount of award varies depending on funds available. Past awards have been approximately $1,000, and are awarded just prior to the start of the internship.

    • Essay - a 500-word narrative proposing the organization where they expect to complete their internship. The narrative should explain how the internship experience fits into their academic development and area of study, and what they hope to gain from the experience.

Beverly Duren Memorial Scholarship

  • Award: Amount and number of awards vary depending on endowment distributions

  • Eligibility

    • High school seniors from Harlandale ISD (Harlandale High School, McCollum High School, or Tejeda Academy) OR a graduate of Harlandale ISD and currently enrolled freshman at the University of Texas at San Antonio
    • Declare a major or minor in the Department of Music OR the Department of Art and Art History in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts at UTSA. Preference will be given to Music major/minors, but all eligible applications are considered.
    • Have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above during award year.
    • Exhibit leadership capabilities through participation in school clubs, extracurricular activities, civic organizations, band, volunteer work, job experience, or other demonstrations of leadership abilities

    *Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need as determined by UTSA’s Office of Financial Aid. Please fill-out the Federal Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

    • Completed the Beverly Duren Scholarship application form.
    • 2 letters of recommendation from high school faculty familiar with the applicants academic and extracurricular achievements.

David Bowen Memorial Endowment For Study In Europe - Spring 2018

Ernest And Aimee Bromley Endowed Presidential Scholarship In The Liberal Arts

  • Award: Amount and number of awards vary depending on endowment distributions

  • Eligibility

    • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student with a declared a major in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts

    • Recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours and actively pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts in the College. An exception to full-time enrollment may be granted by the Dean on a case-by-case basis when the student is not required to take a full course load to graduate, provided the student is enrolled in a minimum of six credits hours.

    • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

    **Art and Art History and Music majors are not eligible for this scholarship**

Hewitt Family Annual Scholarship in COLFA

  • Award: $1,000

  • Eligibility

    • Must be enrolled full-time status (minimum of 12 semester credit hours for undergraduates and 6 semester credit hours for graduate students)

    • Recipients must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours and must demonstrate leadership capabilities in their school and community through volunteer efforts

    • all disciplines in the College of Engineering

    • all disciplines in the College of Sciences

    • Anthropology

    Or

    • Undergraduate students who are declared music majors with a declared minor or major in one of the above disciplines

    • Graduate music majors with a secondary research focus in one of the above disciplines

    • Graduate students who are declared majors in one of the above disciplines with a secondary research focus in music

    • Completed online application form.
    • Brief essay (no less than 200 words) explaining the importance of music or creative writing in your intellectual and personal life. For graduate students, the essay should include an explanation of your research areas of focus. Please attach the essay to this application with name and Banner ID stated at the top.
