Dr. John Morris, Associate Professor of Geography (Ph.D., University of Texas at Austin), has been at UTSA since 1992.  His teaching interests include world regional geography, geography of Europe, weather and climate, and cultural geography.  A historical geographer, he is the author of three books, From Coronado to Escalante (1992), El Llano Estacado (1997), and A Private in the Texas Rangers (2001).  Recently he edited the 2002 Lakeside Classics Centennial volume, an annotated Spanish-English edition of Pedro de Castaneda's "Narrative of the Coronado Expedition (2002).  John is currently engaged in three additional book projects.  He is working toward submission of a 2-volume, illustrated study of Texas Photographers at the turn of the century, Lost Artists of the Texas Real Photo.  He has been approached by the University of New Mexico Pressfor a book on the Texas Panhandle.  Finally, he has written a monograph on the historical geography of the "West Campus" neighborhood in Austin, which he intends to submit for publication.  He is also working on two book chapters for inclusion in edited volumes, one entitled "Coronado, Hank Smith, and the Old Springs of the Llano Estacado, and the other, "Family Farmers."
