Course Description
Using the Norton Anthology of Modern and Contemporary Poetry Vol.1 Modern Poetry,  (ISBN: 0-393-977912-9) we will study some poems written by important modern poets:  Whitman, Dickinson, Hardy,  Yeats, Frost, Stevens , Williams, Lawrence, Eliot, cummings, and Langston Hughes.

Course Requirements
Take home midterm exam, Ten short (2-4 page ) explications no more than one per poet, intelligent contributions to class discussions, take-home final exam
