Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta is an English honor society for four-year colleges and universities with over 825 chapters in the United States and abroad. Established in 1924, its purpose is to recognize high achievement in English studies and to foster literacy and the study of English language, literature, and writing. Sigma Tau Delta members are eligible for scholarships, writing awards, internships, publication in Sigma Tau Delta journals, conference attendance, student leadership, and recognition for high achievement in English studies. Beta Omega Chapter

The Beta Omega Chapter at UTSA is an active chapter of the national Sigma Tau Delta organization.

How to Apply in the Beta Omega Chapter

Student membership is available to currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates for undergraduate membership must have completed a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English. The candidate must have a minimum of a B or equivalent average in English and in general scholarship must have an overall B average.

Candidates for graduate membership must be enrolled in a graduate program in English, or one of its specializations, have completed six semester hours of graduate work or the equivalent, and have a minimum grade point average of 3.3.

To receive a copy of the application, email faculty sponsor Dr. Karen Dodwell at Students submit an application and an unofficial copy of their transcripts. After eligibility is determined, a student must submit $50.00 as a one-time fee for a life-time membership in the organization.
