Biography
Ralph Millis has an M.A. in government and politics from Florida State University, and M.A. in English from Florida State University, an M.A. in English from the The University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in English/modern letters from the The University of Iowa. Prior to coming to UTSA, in a career spanning over thirty years he held positions at numerous institutions, including The University of Maryland, The United States Air Force Academy, and The University of Nevada-Reno. He also served in administrative positions at those three institutions. He has published poetry and short fiction in The Beloit Poetry Journal, Legend, and other publications. He has also published travel articles and wrote a weekly column for The Colorado Springs Gazette, a newspaper with a daily circulation of over 100,000. At UTSA he has taught Introduction to literature, American literature since 1865, and the American novel. He is scheduled to teach Southern Literature and Culture in the Spring Semester.
