Organization Description

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is the government agency that oversees lawful immigration to the United States. USCIS provides accurate and useful information to customers, advocates and stakeholders; grants immigration and citizenship benefits; promotes awareness and understanding of citizenship, and ensures the integrity of our country’s immigration system.

Intern Responsibilities

Intern Responsibilities include writing for an internal newsletter that reaches 15,000 employees across the world on a daily basis; helping to develop, plan, publicize and execute community events and public service campaigns; an internship with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in San Antonio offers those opportunities. The unpaid internship is available in the Community Relations Program and would allow you to help develop programs and outreach proposals. It also would entail taking an active part in community events like special naturalization ceremonies, community outreach forums, meetings with immigrant advocacy groups and meetings with public officials. Developing media lists and growing community engagement lists are also a component of the work. The position also offers valuable insight as to the workings of the federal government and how community relations, public affairs and internal communication function within the government.
