About

James Hunter

Academic Interests: Cultural Studies; Modernism; Shakespeare and Renaissance era literature

Hometown: Youngstown, Ohio is my birthplace.  I have lived in San Antonio and Austin for the past seven years.

Previous degrees: Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with emphasis in English, Youngstown State University, 1996.  Completed sixty hours of coursework English and the humanities at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Current Hobbies: I enjoy reading, writing, and studying for the M.A. exam.  I also enjoy the company of five cats, one dog, and not being thrown in the dog house on any given day by my spouse.  In addition to English literature and theory, I enjoy reading about Buddhism and other Eastern religions, eating vegetarian foods, and occasionally strumming my old Fender strat.

Favorite Authors: James Joyce; Franz Kafka; Walt Whitman; Shakespeare; T.S. Eliot

Ultimate Vacation: In the spirit of Emily Dickinson and total depersonalization with any outer realms, my ultimate vacation would be acquiring the talent and skill necessary to have a poetic vocation.  (If a vacation spot must be decided upon, by Jove, I guess I’d settle for Jupiter.)
