Students are invited to respond to a call for submissions for a Festschrift volume celebrating the career of UTSA Poet in Residence Wendy Barker. Dr. Barker is an award-winning poet, scholar, and essayist; she has been a mentor to numerous writers who now live, work, and teach all over the country. She introduced the Creative Writing Reading Series at UTSA, and continues to help the program grow.
Students are invited to submit work that celebrates the life and career of Wendy Barker, from her scholarly work on Emily Dickinson and Ruth Stone, to her award-winning poetry, and her dedication to teaching. Work inspired or influenced by Dr. Barker is also welcomed.
Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Non-Fiction/Essays should be double-spaced, and Scholarly Essays (5-20 pages) should be in MLA style. Previously published work is acceptable as long as the author has full rights and grants written permission for it to be republished.
All submissions should include name, mailing and email addresses. Digital files should be submitted here. Submissions are due May 1, 2012.
