The 5th Annual African American Studies Symposium was held Tuesday, April 12 at the UTSA Main Campus Denman Ballroom.

Presenters from across the country participated in this dynamic event, including keynote speaker Dr. William Jelani Cobb, Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies at Rutgers University and author of “The Substance of Hope: Barack Obama and the Paradox of Progress” (Walker, 2010).

The African American Studies Symposium is held every year and serves to provide a voice that expresses the Black presence at UTSA and beyond to positively affect the role of Blacks in America.
