An Archaeological Study of Early Farming and Warfare in Northwest Chihuahua, Mexico. Robert J. Hard, Ph.D. (UTSA) and John R. Roney (Colinas Cultural Resource Consulting)

Over three thousand years ago early farmers constructed 500 terraces to form a defensive settlement at the site of Cerro Juanaqueña in Northwest Chihuahua, Mexico.

This site represents both an early example (ca. 1300 - 1100 B.C.) of a farming community as well as an early defensive location in North west Mexico and the American Southwest.

These web pages are designed to give a general audience an overview of our archaeological project. The preparation of this web site is supported by a supplement to National Science Foundation grant SBR-9809839 and UTSA.
