General Social Survey Home Page -- The GSS is a series of large personal interview surveys of U.S. households by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) done by James A. Davis and Tom W. Smith.  Surveys were first conducted in 1972 and since then more than 35,000 respondents have answered over 2500 different questions. This site has a lot of data but user needs to be knowledgeable about surveys, etc.   Can perform crosstabulations on site.
