Welcome to the Political Science Program at the
University of Texas, San Antonio.
Our Faculty: We have 16 Political Scientists and 3
Geographers on our faculty. All faculty members have Ph.D.s, many
from the top-25 departments in the country. Our faculty members
routinely win national and university grants, fellowships, and
teaching awards. Several faculty members have worked for the U.S.
government and advised foreign governments. Others are long-time
Texas residents with intimate knowledge of state and local
politics.
Our Program: We offer a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science, as well as
five minors (African American Studies, International Studies, Legal
Studies, Political Science, and Public Administration). We also
have a rapidly growing Master of Arts (MA) program, with specializations in
American Government, International Politics, Political Economy,
and Political Theory and Public Law. The American Government
specialization includes concentrations in Political Communications
and Behavior, and American Institutions and Processes.
Our Students: We have about 330 UTSA undergraduate students
majoring in Political Science and about 60 active graduate
students. Our students come from diverse backgrounds, with many
becoming first-generation college graduates.
